Baby Cat: How to Care for a New Kitten

Your cat may have been your baby so far, but will soon be home with a human baby. Even if your cat is a docile, loving and purring machine, when you bring your cute, innocent, totally helpless cat home from the hospital to meet you a cuter, smarter, more feline It can also be nerve-racking. Most cats will adjust to a newborn; they realize that this little man needs kindness, and they respond to him quite differently than they do to an older man.

These are the cats most likely to be affected by a newborn, so use your entire pregnancy to slowly prepare for them. If your baby has enough time to be born, prepare the nursery gradually so that your cat can adjust slowly.

Decide with your partner whether your cat can enter the nursery or not. Gradually introduce your cat to all the toys and devices that make sounds that can be used when the baby arrives. Play recordings of baby sounds to get your cat accustomed to the new sounds she's about to hear, or rub your hands with baby lotion before you do a pleasurable activity with your cat to create positive associations with baby smells.

Bring home a blanket that your baby has been wrapped in for hours to help your cat get used to the smell of a newborn. If your cat is calm, you can clean the cat's cheeks and body with a blanket to make it smell like a baby.

Let the cat explore by placing a baby-smelling object, such as a blanket or piece of clothing, in a quiet area where the cat can sniff and get used to the object. Let your cat explore the new environment and get used to any new furniture or baby items that might scare her. Covering an old stain with a hard object, such as a diaper bucket or chest of drawers, can push it away.

Just by existing, your cat poses little threat to your baby, even if you can't avoid it if you know what to look for. Of course, stealing is not true, but your cat is a danger to your baby if you let them sleep next to each other.

Try to refrain from adding a new cat to the family until you have a baby. While we know that cats and babies can coexist harmoniously in the same family, there are still precautions that new or future parents can take to protect both the child and the cat.

It is extremely important that kittens, as well as pregnant cats and young mothers, receive adequate nutrition. Cat's milk replacer is intended for feeding kittens as cow's milk does not contain all the necessary nutrients. The act of breastfeeding calms kittens even if their mother is no longer milking.

While kittens meow to their mothers for help and attention, adult cats rarely meow to communicate with each other, leaving vocalizations for humans instead. Not surprisingly, research shows that people use baby talk with their cats. There was an urban legend about cats stealing babies' breath right out of their mouths, which didn't help the "cats and babies living together" PR campaign. Kittens feed on their mother's milk by attaching themselves to the nipples on the belly of an adult female.

Kittens are mammals, which means they survive exclusively on breast milk for the first six to eight weeks of life. Small orphan kittens need cat milk every two to four hours and need physical stimulation to defecate and urinate. Some cats disperse their kittens as early as three months old, while others continue to care for them until they reach puberty.

Royal Canin also makes a cat food mix that can be given to kittens at four or five months of age, but Mother & Babycat is designed for the first four months of a cat's life, which are the most important for proper development. Mother & Babycat formula is specially formulated for cats and their babies. Currently, I no longer use Mother & Babycat because my cats have grown beyond the required age.

The success of cats is likely due to their childish features and demeanor, which often makes people want to care for them (also known as infant response), just as parents care for their children. Thoughtful behavior (possibly triggered by a child's pattern responses) can create a strong bond between a cat and its owner. This parenting behavior, in turn, creates a strong bond fueled by infant meowing, meowing, receptiveness to talking to baby cats; and our cognitive biases, including primacy effects and anthropomorphism Tendency for cute creatures. Cats are also attracted to warm cribs with or without babies.

For many of us, despite the ability to survive without a human, our cat will always be "our baby". Ultimately, this means that one litter of kittens can be attributed to more than one biological father. Any cat care routine that will be changed by the parents after the baby is born should be changed one to two months before the birth.
