National and World Military Championships, great equestrian events

The Navalmoral de la Mata Rural Training Center (Cáceres) will host between September 20 and 23 the celebration of the 2022 National Military Horse Riding Championshipa competition that this year reaches its 31st edition.

This national test will be prior to the World Military Riding Championshipwhich will take place in the historic French town of Fontaineblau between the 4th and 10th of the next month of October.

Remember that, in the first edition of the World Military Riding Championship held in Vienna in 1969, the gold medal in the jumping discipline went to commander Enrique Martínez Vallejoat the time one of the most important riders on the Spanish equestrian scene.

Military horse riding competition

Organized by the Superior Council of Military Sports, an official body dependent on the Ministry of Defence, the National Military Riding Championship has the category of full contest with dressage, cross country, jumping, hitching and raid tests over distances of 40 and 80 kilometers.

Participating in the tests held in Navalmoral de la Mata, among others, the three riders who managed to make the podium in the 4th Week of Military Sports which was held in Ceuta during the month of June, a competition that included the participation of a total of 58 horses.

The best classified in Ceuta were Lieutenant Colonel Ángel Cercido, Second Lieutenant José Collada and Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Suñén, who will have the opportunity to participate in the National Military Riding Championship and at the same time prepare for the Fontaineblau World Championship.

Note that the last 2021 edition of the national military horse riding championship was held at the Madrid facilities of La Dehesa.

Who can participate

In the National Military Riding Championship active and reserve military can participatestudents of military educational centers, members of the Civil Guard and members of the National Police and the regional and local police forces, although the latter, as they do not belong to the Armed Forces and are not included in the military regulations, are not eligible for a medal.

World Military Games

These World Military Games began to be held in Rome in 1995 to commemorate the end of World War II and since then have been held periodically in Zagreb (1999), Catania (2003), Hyderabad (2007), Rio de Janeiro (2011), Mungyeong (2015) and Wuhan (2019) with the participation in this latest edition of more than 9,300 athletes.

The next appointment of the Military World Games will be in Bogotá (Colombia) in September next year 2023.
